Homage to Gordon Smith

This art gallery show starts with the end of a lifetime of controlled landscape painting and the transition to a looser Zen-like painting style that captures what I feel as I hunt, fish, hike and live in the mountains. I took a 6 year hiatus from painting and traveled frequently to learn from my lifelong friend and mentor Gordon Applebe Smith; watching him paint in his studio, corresponding, and taking him into the wilds of B.C. for photos and the occasional Scotch. Using acrylics and watercolor I embarked on ‘just painting’ and capturing the feel of my landscape.
